Hello

Just call me "Strita" - that's because I didn't know what to call myself when I opened this blog and I use good ol' St. Rita for my email address.

She's a great saint and my patron saint.

Today's saint is very obscure and rather boring - but then, so am I. So in honor of opening my blog on his feast day, I will ask St. Avitus of Vienne to be my blog's patron saint.

Now. Everything else should just fall in place I guess!

Bishop of Vienne. Avitus was the son of Bishop Isychius, a former Roman
senator, and succeeded him in the see ofVienne in 490. He ransomed captives,
became known for his wisdom and charity, and converted members of the Frankish
tribes who dominated the region. He also presided over the Council of Epaon in
517. He was noted for his elegant writings, including an allegory, a poem on
chastity, sermons, and letters.
